Thanks Shell. I did get a little upset but not much. i only had two more days scheduled with them and had not planned on booking anymore. They are very bad about waiting until five oclock on the day of work and cancelling agency staff. all it was doing was costing me money by keeping me tied up where i couldn't schedule with anyone else. You are right. it is their loss. LOL. I have been semi retired also, so once Christmas is past i probably won't work anywhere. Just stay home and enjoy my grandbabies. They are almost a full time job.

Thanks Debra. i know you are in the medical field also and if you know anything about agency or temp work, we are held at a higher standard than regular staff anyway. Their census stays so low that their regular staff are not getting all their hours anyway. Anyway, i'm not going to worry about it. i had been cancelled about twelve or fifteen times because of low census, so I was losing money by even fooling with them.

We have to be careful what we write on the net anywhere. I use my online journal on here to vent my personal feelings, etc., or I use to. Someone in my office got on the site and saw what I had written about my job, printed it and took it to my boss. I almost lost my job over that, and honestly I did not have any really defamitory stuff on it, just what I felt about the place. I had to take it all out. Now I don't have a place to go to vent. It gets frustrating.

I feel the same way. This is "our" place and it is so unfair to have that taken away from us. I found out over a year ago that my surgeons groups reads our profiles when i had written something aboutmy PCP telling me that my pain was gallbladder. My surgeon called and the first thing he said was, "it's not your gallbladder". Then he laughingly admitted that they read our profiles. i felt violated. But i did get myself in trouble this time. I take full responsibility.

Missy, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with the group at St. Joseph East group. I had stomache bypass surgery with Dr. Neighbert in June 2002. I have had very little problems and when I have I have found everyone there to be both caring/supportive and professional. I have discussed medical issues with them at my regular appointment, by phone and by e-mail. I attend most support group meeting. I know that Ashland is a long drive. I would encourage you to give St. Joeph East ant the BSS Center another try, But, if you don't and do decide to go to Ashland, I suggest that even though it is a 2hr drive, that you attend the support group meetings. I have found them to be very beneficial. I drive 2hrs after teaching all day. but it is important to have that contact with others. But whatever you decide, good luck and remember to pray about your decision before making it.

Dear Missy, I heard good things about Dr. Steiner, but another surgeon in Lexington is Dr. Bolar. He has done over 2000 gastric bypasses over the last 16 years and has a excellent reputation.

Let me add my voice to praise Georgetown. I personally would go to that hospital for any procedure I may have since I truly love the staff there. I have had two hospital stays there, once for bariatric surgery and once for a bowel obstruction. Both times I felt like I was taken good care of. I absolutely love the surgeons of Bluegrass Bariatrics, Drs. Weiss (dark and handsome) and Oldham (the georgeous tall blond). They are friendly, smart and confident. Their nursing staff is wonderful, especially Cassie. Three of the nurses with the program have had bariatric surgery so they are intimate with the requirements of a bariatric patient and completely understand everything we are going through. They even created the WLS bible, which is a booklet with information on what to do and when to do it from beginning to end. It doesn't mean you wouldn't have questions, but it would answer many for you. The support group is wonderful. It is like visiting family when I go to the meetings. I have made so many friends that we have other gatherings occasionally just to visit between support group dates. In fact, I just came back from a fabulous cruise that had roughly 58 people (more than half were family and friends of the patients). We had a blast! That being said, I have a friend who had surgery in Ashland. She came through wonderfully and has many good things to say about their program. I also know someone who had surgery at St. Joseph East. She had a good experience there. She's had some issues with food, but the surgery itself didn't cause it. Everyone reacts differently to different foods. I'd say you just caught the group who set up your colonoscopy on a bad day. However, you wouldn't want them having a bad day when you went to surgery. If you want to take a look at Georgetown's group, come to a seminar. Some that are coming up are: Friday, October 29th at 7pm (Holiday Inn - Hurstbourne Lane, Louisville, Kentucky) Friday, November 5th at 11am(GCH Medical Building, Suite 230) Friday, November 12th at 11am(GCH Medical Building, Suite 230) Friday, November 12th at 7pm (Marriott Griffin Gate in Lexington, Kentucky) Friday, November 19th at 11am(GCH Medical Building, Suite 230)
