Hi, I was wondering, do any of u know anything about Vena Cava Filters? Dr Shina requires some patients get one before surgery. He said I don't have to, but I want one. I just want a little more info about them...Email me at [email protected] Thanks and God Bless Angela

It is a filter to catch blled clots. The patients that get those are the ones that are high risk for clots. The doctor won't put one in just because you "want to". It is an unecessary surgery unless you need one.

With my weight, 322, my surgeon Mark Shina, Louisville Ky is giving me the option to get one and since it makes me feel safer I am going to get one. He gives all his patients the option to get one and I think that is wonderful. God Bless Angela
