Anthem Blue Access insurance of Kentucky, good to deal with?
HI All! I am so grateful to everyone who has answered the messages I have been putting up lately. I am new to all of this and the information i have been given is so helpful on this website. But my question is: I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Access of Kentucky and was wondering if anyone has had to deal with this insurance before and what their criteria was? I did call them and they said, it was covered as long as it was medically neccessary. So what should I expect from them? Please if anyone has any information, I would be so grateful to know. Thanks to everyone!!!!!!!!!

Davina,
i also have anthem blue access. some blue access subscribers have no problem, some do. if you are like me and others who have an exclusion, they will not pay for anything related to weighloss or obesity. it is exclusion# 26. if you insurance card starts with yrp---. be wary. if you call and ask them if surgery is covered without giving them your id# they will tell you it is covered. if you gave them your id# and they told you it is coverded you are ok. look closely at the benefit book.
i have the exclusion and was denied. they said i could appeal, but i would be denied again. an exclusion is an exclusion. i have wrote to every ky congress person reguarding this, i have wrote to the president of anthem, and i have inquired with a lawyer, non of whom will respond. i believe if this surgery is medically necessary insurance should pay. reguardless if there is an exclusion. please keep in touch. there are several people in same boat with anthem.
hugs,
cheryl
