Will I need to drink decaff tea and coffee the rest of my life or is it something that is just needed until the pouch heals? Thanks, Shirley

I'v drank regular coffee since day one and it hasn't bothered me. I take that back ,I drink it before I eat in the mornings, I did get sick after I drank coffee about 45 minutes after breakfast once. It doesn't increase my appetite at all.

I think the reason my doctor said no caffeein,(sp?) was because it is a natural diuretic. Plus it is a stimulant, says it will stimulate your appeitite. I think after 6 months, it is ok.

I just try to minimize my caff. intake by restricting it to a very small cup of coffee in the morning on some work days. Otherwise, my diet drinks and iced tea are decaf. I kind of split the difference...

I have not had any coffee in almost a month and I was so surprised I did not miss it at all. Caffeine is a diuretic and the problem is if you dont take in enough fluid you will get dehydrated rather fast. After reading how many people have had to go back in the hospital for rehydration I decided to just skip it all together. My Doctors says I can have back at 6 months. Stephanie
