Also, I called Dr Shinas office, had my seminar less than 2 weeks later, my psych eval today, and should know something about my approval in 14 days. I can't say enough great things about him. I don't know if Dr Allen or the others do this cause I have never went to them, but the biggest risk to this surgery is a blood clot. At least that is what I have heard. Dr Shina gives patients an option to have a Vena Cava Filter put in before surgery, some patients he makes do this before. Others, like me, he leaves it to them. I am going to have one because it cuts down on the risk of a blood clot, the filter works to stop the clot if a piece breaks off and heads for anything important. Good luck with whoever u choose...I know at the seminar yesterday there were 3 - 4 ladies with Humana and were talking about having to get it done before the end of the year..From what I heard, they were all pretty happy to be there.
