GALLBLADDER AND WLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found out today that I will also be having gall bladder surgery at the same time I have my WLS. I was suppose to have laproscopic wls. Does anyone know if I can still have lap? I didn't even know I had gall bladder problems until I had my pre-op testing. surgery date Oct.6th Thanks, Patti

Patti, I have a friend who had surgery 2 weeks after me and they also removed her gallbladder. It was done lap. Hope this helps. Sharan (-110)

I also had to have my gall bladder removed and as far as know you can have Lap. but you can't have lap band. Removing the gall bladder contaminates the band. This is just what I was told. I had gastric by-pass in order not to have to have two surgerys. The lap-band and gall bladder surgery cannot be done at the same time.

Patti, It depends on your doctor. If your surgeon is an advanced laproscopic surgeon then it can be done laproscopic. If you are unsure about your surgeon being able to do it laproscopically I would get a second opinion.
