Finally got insurance (Humana Choice Care PPO). Pay $650/mo for it. Called them today to find out if WLS was covered...........HELL NO! It's a written exclusion. Anyone ever get past an exclusion? If so, please let me know. Thanks, Linda

Linda if it is an exclusion due to company you or your husband works for, it might be impossible to get around it but I have UHC and had an exclusion but mine read EXCEPT for medical necessity . Did you ask them it was covered if it is medical necessity?

Linda, I have Anthem BCBS of Kentucky and it doesn't look as if I am going to get past the exclusion either (see my profile under insurance). Personally, The only thing I know to do is find another job. I have fought so hard but it doesn't appear that I am going to get it while I am at my current place of employment. Hang in there! If it is meant to be, IT WILL BE! Beth

Uhm...people keep saying "change jobs"...that IS NOT an option! This insurance is through my DHs employer, and there is NO way DH can leave. For several reasons....1) he's 50 yrs old and a computer programmer...who wants a 50 yr old computer programmer these days? 2) he has a contract with the employer and HAS to stay employed for a MINIMUM 5 yrs (its only been 3). 3) Even IF he could get out of the contract, he would not be able to find another job that pays as well as this one. So, we're kind of stuck. Linda

Linda, Are you working anywhere? Not sure what part of KY you're in but UPS has good Ins. if you can get hired. If you aren't wanting to work full time they are great cause it's mostly 4 hours shifts. Good Luck! Bridgett

I have UHC and was denied because of exclusion but I appealed and because its a medical necessity they approved the second time. I just got my approval this week. So asked about medical necessity if they approve. Marsha

I had my doctor's appointment this week and my doctor told me they had been told Humana is going to stop paying for this surgery all together beginning November 1. I had Humana but my policy said if medically necessary. I didn't have trouble.

Hi If ur facing with an exclussion in ur policy look into www.obesitylaw.com They may be able to help you to over rule the exclusion.. Please do not give up and fight. I did and finally got approved. Get your State Senate and Repesentive involved, I did and if they hear from other people they may pu**** more that Obesity should not be an exclussion.... I just recently had my surgery after a battle that I was so deep involved in for 12 months. These insurance Companies do not consider that this WLS can save you and them money in a long run with the comobilities... Please Fight Get State involved, Senators, Doctors, and ur friends. We need to be heard. Medicare is changing the wording on Obesity that there will be coverage for this illness. We need to pu**** and make it happen with all insurance. To many people I know as past from this illness and it needs to review and changed. COMOBILITIES from Obesity is our case and platfor to stand for and fight.... Please do not give up. Please fight it. Dan O
