INSURANCE VERIFICATION-- RECEIPTS of DIET PLANS YOU"VE TRIED
Hi! I am new to all of this and thinking seriously about having surgery. I attended the group meeting where u find out about all the things the insurance wants you to do to verify you've tried diets.
I have Blue Cross/blue shield--- I have been on every diet coming and going through out the years. Some of the places I have went to are out of business or no longer at the place they were at when I used their diet. Such as Physicians weight loss, Nutri system and I can name more. Now How do I verify that I have been on these diets.
Receipts are long gone and the places are gone. What do I do?? Does anyone have any suggestions or simliar problems? Please help me---
Proof of your diet history really depends on what your plan requires. I have Independence Blue Cross, and they didn't require any documented diet history. Yeah I told my Bariatric nurse what diets I have done, but there was no proof to give them. My plan only required that my bmi be over 40. I got approved in 3 days! Over the summer I use to have Blue Cross of Ill., and they required a 6-month supervised diet by a physican or nurse. I ended up leaving that job for personal reasons, so I didn't have to deal with them anymore. You need to call your insurance and read your benefits to see what they require. You might not have to have documented proof of your diet history. What you can get would definitely be helpful, but there is still hope of getting approved without it.
Good Luck!
