Hey, has anyone here had their surgery done at Nortons Suburban? If so how was it? Its the only hospital that Dr. Shina operates at, I have been told. Will they allow my daughter to stay in the room at night if my hubby stays? Otherwise I will be on my own at night, which will be ok, but I at least want her to be able to be there during the day so I can see her, she will be 3 in Nov. So, if u have any info on this hospital or their policies regarding children visiting/staying let me know. We live in Etown, about 30-40 miles away so its not a big deal, he can come home at night. I have just read some bad post about Nortons nurses not taking care of patients as well at night time. So, I guess I am a little nervous about being left there alone, lol. Thanks...

Hey there. I was in Nortons, the one downtown. I don't know if that is the right one or not. My hubby stayed with me all three nights. My little 9 year old was there after school daily until she had to go home at night. They also wouldn't let her stay over night. I did ask because I was there over the weekend but hubby went and picked her up and she stayed all day long. The nurses were GREAT!!!! I loved every one of them. They took great care of me during the day and night. I didn't have a problem at all. At night, they were there everytime I needed them and that was alot. Pushing the IV's like that I had to go to the bathroom all night long and they had to unhook my IV's each time and then come back in and rehook them. I would go back there in a heartbeat if I had too. I had a friend that was there as well at the same time. And my mom was there about a year ago. They didn't have a problem either and liked all the nurses and was taken great care of as well. I think some people just like to write bad things to scare others or they did get some bad nurses at their time. Mine was about 4 months ago. I hope it is the same hospital and you end up on the 4th floor in section k. They are great there. That I know for a fact.

Hi, thanks for the heads up. U put my fears at rest at least she will be able to come and stay there all day with me. Since we are just 30 miles down I-65 my husband and daughter can stay all day then come home at night. I am very excited about it. I am more scared of my ins co not approving me than I am of the actual surgery. I guess when I get approved I can start being nervous about the surgery. I guess some people may have had a bad experience, but that doesn't include everyone. I am not sure which Nortons I will be at, which ever one is Nortons Surburban, I don't think I will be at the one down town next to Jewish and the rest, but I could be wrong. Congrats on your surgery, good luck on the journey to losing weight and a healthier lifestyle. Thanks....

I was at nortons downtown but they were great. I think both are good. I coordinate a support group in Radcliff at the library and we have many that have been at nortons sub and I have hear very few problems from them. Good Luck!!!

I can answer one of these questions...haha Nortons downtown is on Chestnut street. That is where I had 2 back surgeries and yes the nurses are great there, but the suburban is out in the county some. I don't know anything about this hospital. Good luck to all on this board. Lydia

I was at Nortons Suburban in June and twice in July and I felt the overall nursing care was excellent. There were a couple of nurses that I didn't particularly care for but all in all I would rate them excellent. Nortons has a policy that they strive to keep their patients happy and I think the entire staff, down to the housekeeping, and kitchen tried their very best.
