Newbie Wanting to talk with someone about Post-OP concerns and Medicare

I am a Newbie Wanting to talk with someone about Post-OP concerns and Medicare. I have read through many journals, but I have not found some questions I have. I am wanting to know how much help I will need when I get home with personal hygeine. I really would love to be able to call someone that I could ask some questions. And if that person had Medicare it would be a double plus. Thank you so much for your time Dee (rdy to start on new journey)

Hi dee I had medicare and your doctor, he is a good surgron. Medicare does not preapprove but they just payed. The hospital sent a bill to me for $22,000.00 and medicare payed $8500.00 and I though I would have to pay 20% but the hospital sent a bill for my share of $17.10 I didnt ask questions I just sent them a check. I dont now if they payed Dr. argotte yet, I go back in a month, I guess I'll find out then. Good luck and god bless. john

Hey Dee! As for the personal hygeine, my mother had to help wipe me, for about 2n days after I got home. The nurses did it while I was in the hospital. As for showering, I had no problem. I have Medicare also. Medicare does not preapprove, but your surgeons office should know if you fall into their guidelines to pay. They pay 80%, unless you also have QMB. It is a medicare supplement by the state, and they pay any remaining amounts. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me hun- Melissa

DEE Hello just want to wish you the best of luck inyour journy I do ot know about medacare i have medicade and they paid for all of it i am 16 mts out I have Dr Argotte and I just think he is the best if you have any questions I might can anwser for you feel free to e mail me i will anwser any I can as far as the personal hygene goes i did not have any problems I know several that did they used a wooden spoon they wraped toliet paper around it to help they wipe with Take Care Huggs Beth
