Hi Cayci, You are in good hands with Dr. Bolar. The best advice I could you is to follow his orders. He knows what's best for you. I hope to meet you at the next support group meeting which will be in September. If the office doesn't tell you when it is be sure to ask them (or you can email me to find out). You are in my thoughts and prayers for a safe surgery and quick recovery. Jill

Good luck, Cayci! (Love your name, by the way...) I agree with the advice to walk, walk, walk ASAP. I would get up and walk around the hospital wing I was on several times a day for the three days I was in the hospital. At home, I would walk the halls and I tried not to fall victim to letting people wait on me...if I needed something, I would get up and get it myself. I really believe this helped my recovery (which was very quick). I don't know what kind of dietary guidelines your dr has given you, but I was on liquid/pureed for the first 4 weeks post-op. I mostly ate yogurt, applesauce, & soup/broth. I got a bit tired of it, but I kept on it because my dr told me to. Now, I'm glad I didn't pu**** or try anything too early. I've read other people who didn't have the liquid diet restriction for as long talk about getting sick. I have only gotten sick once, and that was several weeks post-op and my own fault (in a hurry and ate too fast). Anyway...listen to the drs and nurses, take advantage of the pain medication to keep you feeling good for a few days, and keep a positive attitude! I'll say a prayer for you on Thursday!
