I'm Sorry Roberta I have't had this surgery, but I've had back surgeries with the staples, and it stays sore for 2 sometimes 3 weeks. You can probally dab some proxide on the them and make them feel better I did. But you have just been a little while out and the staples I'm guessing is probally ready to come out soon. Good luck. Hi Roberta, I am also from Hartford, but I had my surgery on June 25 and I got my staples out after about 3 weeks. I didn't have too much trouble with the staples, but when he took them out I had a small place to open up and I had to pack the opening with a sterile wet dressing and then a dry one. It took a good while to heal back up. It will stay red until those staples are out. Dr. Gellar was my doctor but most of the time, I have seen Shina. I ended up back in the hospital two times after the surgery because of dehydration and nausea. I had a time.
