I'm hoping to have my Lap-Band surgery in about a month. Just waiting for the insurance approval. Can those of you who are already on the losing side share how much you've lost with your Lap-Band?

Hey Melissa, We have the same surgeons. I'll be banded next Wednesday so I can't answer your question, but I thought I would say hi to you anyway. Good luck on your journey.

Melissa I was banded Dec 23 2004 at Kings Daughters In Ashland , first of all get plenty of rest and eat right , stock up on the foods you will need for the first 2 weeks or so because you will not feel like shoping when you first get home , being prepared was the best thing I ever did,it helped so much.try to get plenty of rest and drink as much as you can, I found Propel fitness water is a great change from plain water if I have trouble getting enough water. Everyones weight loss is different I quickly lost 21 pounds and just as quickly gained 9 pounds back , all before my first checkup? then nothing until my first fill , after my first fill I lost a few pound , nothing spectacular and I was getting discouraged because I did not feel much restriction. After my second fill I quickly lost several more pounds and was happy then I started to gain and loose the same 1 or 2 pounds for 2 weeks so I went back for a Third fill and really started to loose and I have Lost 57-58 pounds and I am thrilled but I am doing the up a pound or 2 down a pound or 2 thing again so I think maybe it is time for another fill. You jut have to be verrrry patient and learn how to eat and what works for you because everyone is different. I was also very emotional after my surgery (PMS x 10)but again that is different for everyone. I aggravated because I could not eat what I wanted but when I started to loose the aggravation was gone , I overdid a few times but you soon learn what and how much you can eat eg:my friend who had the band done the same day can eat bread but I cannot , she lost more weight the first few months but now we are about the same , I even went through a time when I did not loose and was told I was not eating enough WOW no one told me that could happen? Sometimes it takes awhile to find what works for you because everyone is different. When you get the right fill amount (wich may happen the first fill or the 4th fill?) everything will be fine. Good luck and follow the MD and diet guidelines you will do great but remember patience patience patience , trust me that is so hard sometimes but well worth the wait. Angie P.S.please excuse misspellings etc.it is getting late and I am tired but I waned to drop you a quick line.
