I haven't even submitted ...
I haven't even submitted my information to my insurer , but I was wondering if taking asprin everyday would help prevent blood clots. I know it is benifitial to the heart and is said to thin blood. I dont remember Dr. Gellar saying anything about it? My Mom's heart doctor told her to try to never forget to take her asprin
Deborah, I'm not sure if you are referring to taking the aspirin before surgery to be sure you prevent blood clots, but my surgery is Friday and I have a sheet of medicines that I am to avoid before surgery and any medication with aspirin is on the sheet. They will be giving me blood thinners before and after surgery and I don't think they want us to have the extra thinners in our body. That is something they need to control very carefully.
They want to prevent clots after surgery, and they want to prevent extensive bleeding for during the procedure. Therefore, they will generally have you off any NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflamitories) such as Aspirin for anywhere from 1-3 weeks before surgery (every doctor is different)... Good luck to you in your journey!
Thank you for your information. I went to my pcp today and he assured me he would write a support letter for me. One of his nurses has had the surgery and she is doing great. He said he has seen the benifits for himself, first hand. This web sight is great and I am learning so much. I am not "worried" but just concerned about complications. When I went to the Doctor today there were people in there that were very ill and It kinda makes me feel bad that my problems are kind of self-inflicked. But I have tried everything but hypnosis, and all I do is lose a little and gain more after each attempt . I have dieted myself into obesity.
