I'm hoping to have a lap RNY sometimes soon. I keep seeing all of these other types and i get confused. Can somebody clear this up?

I'm still confused on the Distal v/s Proximal thing as well. The closest thing I can get to it is that there are actually two meanings. There is a Distal WLS I think where the biggest part of your intestines are bypassed. I don't know how many cm's. That is very dangerous so most docs don't do that. Then there is the Distal or Proximal Roux limb, meaning for proximal the doc only bypasses 75cm, v/s distal where the doc bypasses 150 cm of your intestines. I thought I had a Distal surgery, since I'd been told that I was bypassed 150 cm's, but I hear my doctor didn't like that term, because bypassing 150cm is not actually Distal WLS. Hope this helps.

I think distal alone involves removing the "extra" parts that the RNY by-passes. My dr does proximal rny if you have 200+ to lose and distal RNY if you are 100-199 As said previously, the difference is the ammount of intestine bypassed.
