Hi, I am not taking any pre-op, but post-op i'm taking 2 chewable childrens vitamins and 4 tums per day to start off. I haven't decided on a protein drink yet. I tried the Unjury stuff, it was "yuck". So i'm still in search of.

Hi Vicki, totally agree with other poster. My brother had his RNY 2 years ago and still takes 2 Flintstones chewables a day. His surgeon said these were the best tolerated and absorbed of all.

I didn't take vities too often as a pre-op....just every now and then. As a post-op, I swear by my VistaVitamins. I love them! Protein? My suggestion is to order samples of different kinds. I have found the Isopure Zero Carb in pre-mixed glass bottles work best for me. After surgery, I couldn't stand the texture of the different shakes that I tried and loved as a pre-op. Your taste preferences will change after surgery. So, just becuase you find something you like before surgery doesn't mean that you'll like it after surgery. Also, you'll find that there are things you can't STANT post-op, that you'll be wanting and savoring just a few weeks/months later. Sure is strange, but it happens. Good luck with your journey! Hello all my name is Erin Hurst and I am a Dietitian at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. I tell my patients to take a multi before hand if they would like to...it also helps you to get used to them. Then it is MANDATORY post-op. I tell them to start off with a children's chewable with Iron...buy one bottle and take that until it's gone. Then when you're done with that bottle buy some Cetrum chewables made for adults and take those until you reach the 6 month point. Then it is ok to start taking a regular vitamin that you can wash down with a glass of water. Feel free to email me with any questions! Erin
