On the road to thin. (hopefully)
This is my first post. I'm am working on having the surgery done, but in truth I am scared to death. I have had my first appt. with Dr. Allen and a second already scheduled. The Dr. suggested this site for help and support so here I am. I would love to here anything anyone has to say about the surgeries and if any of you have Tricare insurance I'd like to hear about that to.
HEllo, how long have you been looking into this surgery. I have been looking into it for about 2 years,. I have my first visit with the Dr. in JUly. I am kind of discouraged because it is 2 months away. How long did it take you to get in after your psych, and nutritional evaluations. Good luck on your journey, how did you like Dr. Allen?
It took my two months to get my first appt., but from what the nurse told me that is fairly quick for Dr. Allens office. He seemed like a great guy. I my second in June. I've been considering the surgery since I heard about it, but only got serious about it in Jan. Are you considering band or bypass?
I am 13 months post op Lap RNY and doing wonderful! I have lost 100 lbs and have a BMI of 22.5. I have gone from a size 22 to a 6,was on 4 medications and am now on 0!! I have my life back, there was a price to pay but the rewards have been worth it. The surgery is not one to take lightly and you need to research it go to some support meetings and pray alot about it,it is one that you have to be committed to for life, this is not the Atkins diet and you are going to need alot of support and encouragment but that is what we are all here for. I can't imagine or really I don't want to imagine what my life would have been like to not have had the surgery. I am the happy person I was 26 years ago before dieting and the wrong kinds of eating got ahold of me.
