I read a post on WLS patients having alert bracelets. I know they are important for diabetics and other patients who need to let people know about them incase they are incoherent. Is there a reason for WLS patients to have one? My surgery is on May 24th and if this is something I need I would like to look into it more. Any answers please?- Melissa

Some surgeons will suggest it so that if you ever had to have a scope/tube down your throat in an emergancy situation, they would know you'd had the surgery and would be extra precautious since you will have a much smaller stomach, and would have a greater chance of a tear.... My surgeon leaves it up to the patient. I chose not to wear one. But check with your surgeon... and GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SURGERY!! Feel free to email me anytime!

April thank you so much for clearing that up with me! I think I might get one only because I have bad anxiety problems so that way I will feel more comfortable if something happens. Hope to reach the loosing side with you real soon.- Melissa
