I am having surgery in two weeks. At first I was having many great images all of sudden I have been having dreams that I am going to die. Now I read on the line some one died in KY. Is this normal, because I can't control my thoughts. I don't have anyone to talk to because my family is not supporting me.

HI I just read a post like this on the main message board. One reply explained that dreaming of death does not necessarily mean dying. I copied and posted the post below for you. Hope it helps you. Track wrote this... Our dreams are a true window into our subconcious, and depending on whether you believe in dream interpretation or not, death is not always a bad thing, dreamwise. In its most basic form, dreaming of death symbolizes and end to a epoch, or as the ultimate sacrifice. An escape from an unendurable tension in self-destruction. In our oldest folklores, the advent of death is to signify the opening of all locks and loosening knots (ironically - the same for birth!). Even delving into the symbolism of the tarot, where everyone is afraid of the 'death' card, it denotes a change. Creation, death, recreation, part of the cycle of life. So while our immediate response is to fear dreams of death, the deep subconcious message may be one of regeneration, a new beginning, but in this day and age of instant news and gratification, all we can focus on is the topmost layer of emotion, and we should be looking at the deeper meaning. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi again. I just wanted to add that I am here anytime you want to talk. Feel free to email me too if you like. I am online most everyday. I have found a lot of kind, caring, educated people here who have a lot of support to offer so call on them too. I don't know the story of someone dying in KY but I have read the memorials and most did not die from the surgery. Heck one of them died in a car accident. Reading the memorials actually helped me see that the actual surgery is not usually the cause of death. Just remember I am here and so are many others. Don't think you have to go through this alone because you have lots of support here. Remember you are going to have days when everything isn't good or rosey. That is normal and keep in mind that it is gonna go away and don't let it get the best of you. Just hang on to the good times. You are so close to starting your new life. Keep your chin up it is gonna be a wonderful experience. Just use all of the resources hereand don't worry be happy. Here for you PJ

PJ is absolutely correct. It is a fear based dream - fear of the unknown. You are leaving one stage of life behind and beginning a new one. You are like the phoenix that rises up out of the dust. While our past does indeed shape our future, embrace you new beginning and your new life.

I am having my surgery on May 24th in Louisville at Norton's. I am having the same thing happening to me, however it is not me dying from surgery, it is different nightmares of me being killed by people. I have a severe anxiety problem and I am on alot of medication for it. I read many posts and see that everyone has fears and gets anxious. Talking to other peers helps alot. The biggest thing is not letting it scare you to where you give up. I know if I don't loose weight I will more than likely die at an ealy age, so this is my chance to become healthier. I pray every day for all having surgery, actually I pray for everyone in the world everyday, so I don't miss anyone. I will keep you in my prayers also. I will be in the hospital while you are getting ready for your surgery, so if I don't get the chance please remember that I am praying for you. God bless you- Melissa
