I would like to know how bad your pain was after surgery and how long out of work?? I know I'm gonna be cut below my breast and down to maybe my belly button. I'm just wandering. I do have a high pain tolerence so maybe that might help. ty [email protected].

I had my surgery on 4/12. I expected the worst but it was not that bad for me. I also had open so had the same incision you are talking about. It doesn't quite go to my belly button. When I first woke up I was on morphine with the button to push for pain. That worked out well, then when they took me off it I just made sure I watched the clock when it was time for my medicine. It works out better if you take it right on time. Getting out of bed to go to the bathroom was uncomfortable, but definitely not the worst pain I have ever had. I am going back to work this week. I have been out 3 1/2 weeks. I am sure it is different for everyone, but I hope you have a good recovery. Drink your water and walk around when they let you. It will help in the long run! Melodie

Hey Mrs. Diane!! I had lap, but wanted to answer your question.. My pain afterwards wasn't too bad. The first night there was just a lot of tenderness/soreness. I never experienced major "pain". The more you walk, the less gas you will experience. Also, your pain med's are flowing constantly, and you'll have a little morphine pump for that extra pain.. like after walking, coughing, breathing treatments, etc. After home, I only had one or two doses of pain medicine at the MAX a day. By the way.. it tastes AWEFUL... put it in the fridge.. it'll really help. I had a very active job through surgery, and had only planned on missing a total of 2 weeks..but at my check up, girl I knew there was no physical way I could go back to work. If I had a desk job, maybe. I took a total of 4 weeks off. If you need anything, feel free to email or call me.. (call my cell..no one at home anymore.. long story).. Talk to you later girl!! i'm sooo happy for you!!!
