first steps

Does anyone know what the family Dr. needs to put in their letter to the insurance company to get me approved for surgery. Or do I leave it up to the surgeons nurse?

Hi, i'm sure each Dr's office is different. I had my referral from my pcp and that is all that they asked for. So you might want to give your Dr a call and ask them.

My family doc didn't approve of the surgery. Luckily, I didn't need a referral from him to see the surgeon. My surgeon orders all your testing, takes your history, medical and diet and turns in our letter of necessity. My family doc didn't know until well after the fact. Now that he has seen how well i have done, he is all for it.
