anyone have dr weiss?
when i went to a seminar back in march i was told that dr weiss had no fatalities under his care? but this past weekend a friend of mine's mother died and he knew for a fact she had the surgery done in georgetown but wasnt sure which doctor it was , then he went on to tell me that just in somerset alone there were 6 more people under georgetown comm. hospital's care die. then today my bestfriend and i were talking and a lady at his work had died and she as well was under georgetowns care!... whats really going on? i am confused why would a doctor tell us there were no fatalities when there are?
There was another doctor or doctors in Georgetown before Dr. Weiss and Dr. Oldam got there. Not sure how long they have been here, but I would say it's been about a year maybe a little more.
I also wonder if the fatalities were from the band or from other causes. Such as - did the person have a heart attack?
I am hoping to have surgery this summer with Dr. Weiss and would be interested in knowing that answer 2.

I had surgery with Dr. Weiss in August. I also heard a rumor recently and checked into it through the hospital. Recently a lady who had WLS there did die, but it was not surgery related. To date, Dr's Weiss and Oldham have still not had a WLS related fatality.
I completely trust both doctors and would go to them for any procedure again.

Other posters are correct. There was another surgeon at Gtown for a long time, AND, there was a lady who passed away but it was NOT related to her surgery.
Dr. Weiss and his entire staff rock. I had my lap Roux N Y there on 10-1-03 and have lost 135 lbs ....Everyone there is just phenomenol.
It's always best to take "rumors" and such like this directly to the source. You can call their office and talk to them.

Dear Ashley,
It is unfortunate that I have to address such false information as has been brought to my attention today. To set the record straight: The patient you are referring to died three months after she had surgery at Georgetown Community Hospital. She had returned to work and had no complaints whatsoever at the time of her death and passed away in her sleep. Her autospy showed the cause of death was COMPLETELY UNRELATED to the gastric bypass procedure. She had known heart disease. Her husband is a post bariatric surgery patient of ours as well and will validate this information.
Since Dr. Oldham and I joined this team in July 2003, we have had no deaths whatsoever. Any rumors to the contrary are absolutely false and we will vigorously defend our excellent results to date. We are happy to share our data with anyone who is interested.
