i wouldn't advise you to go to one before your first appt with the surgeon. They usually have one that they recommend or that works with their program. I don't know where you are having surgery, but I only had to have two meetings with my programs nutritionist. One was a seminar type thing and the other was just a private meeting. She came daily while I was in the hospital and I have called her on the phone a few times. Don't really need her after the first few weeks but I know she is always available to me by phone or appt.
