I have diabetes and have no back up on past diet records to show the ins. co. and was wondering how they handle this problem. If there is anyone can help me with info about this ins. co. would appericate any info. thanks my e-mail is [email protected]
i have unitedhealth care. At the time I had surgery it was Select or Choice. Now it is UHC access level 2 ppo. I was approved in 15 days. My surgeon sent me to his internist who had my information packet in front of him and asked me all these questions. in my packet was a page that asked you to list all the diets you had been on and the times and results. i had a list of about 15 plus a previous wls. The internist ordered all my pre-op tests and when all the results were in along with the info in my packet, he wrote a letter of necessity to UHC requesting approval. It took exactly 15 days. i didn't have to do anything. Good luck. They pay really bad tho. My surgeons bill was 6,000. and they only paid about 900. My hospital bill was 18,000 and i think they paid about three thousand. The hospital was contracted so they discoun ted the balance. the surgeon was not contract but I have medicare as secondary and it paid about 1,800 of his bill and he wrote the rest off as medicare assignment. I had to pay 253. total. Good luck.
Hi Delores
thanks for e-mailing me back. I am in progess of everything going to the physiologist Tuesday and my doctor on Wedensday to get him to write me a referral letter to the surgeon for my ins. going to the support group meeting on Friday. I've got a busy week ahead but but looking forward to it, my oldest daughter is going with me to the meeting at vandy in Nashville because that is where I'm going to the surgeon Dr. Wright. His nurse sent me a packet of instructions to follow.
My oldest daughter had this surgery done 2 yrs. ago and she is doing great she has lost about 150lbs. and has never regretted it. My daughter-in-law had her surgery done on Dec. 28 2003 in Indiana and she is doing great and doesn't regret it either so I'm next I hope.
Read you profile and up dates and you have done great also it gives me so mu*****ouragement. I like it when you said no one recognized you at the party. I think that would be so much fun.
My ins. unitedhealth care is through General Motors salaried so I don't think it should be a problem the only thing is about the diet record thing. I am insulin diabetes 2 ,hypertension, sleep apnea,bmi-48 and alot of other problems. Do you think I might qualfile???????
Good luck with you new grand daughter
