Dr. Weiss is the surgeon I chose...When I ask about any deaths pre or post op..I was told there was none..But I have heard from a minister in the area thats a good friend of my coworker....he has family in the georgetown area and they know of two deaths from wls and pending lawsuits from the georgetown hospital...I would apprecitate any comments or info about this...I felt very comfortable when this subject was addressed with his staff...but i'm getting a little nervous after hearing this.....

Teresa Hello the way i look at it you can die from any operation some have died from the WLS but the biggest part of them died from something about their health not from the WLS itself. I think most everone gets a lil nervous b-4 WLS. I know I did and it was the day of it when they started hooking me up to the IVs but. It did not take long for the drugs they gave me to kick in and I was out.Hope this helps you Take Care Huggs Beth

Hi Teresa: I've talked to you before. I know it's scary but if you have concerns, go to the doctors. Because rumors may just be that, rumors. It could be any number of misconstrued things. I trust the Bariatric Program at Georgetown with MY life. They are amazing. There are risks with every kind of surgery, from dental surgery to gastric surgery and beyond. You have to learn to come to terms with it yourself and then give the rest to a higher power. You cannot control what happens in that O.R. other than having a GOOD POSITIVE ATTITUDE. I truly believe if you go into something with a positive attitude, it helps you heal faster. Take care. Kat

I COULDNT TELL YOU IF WHAT YOU HEAR IS RUMOR OR NOT, BUT I DO AGREE WITH KAT. JUST TALK IT OUT WITH YOUR DR. AND ITS NORMAL TO GET NERVOUS. IN FACT ID WORRY IF SOMEONE DIDNT GET A LITTLE NERVOUS BEFORE WLS. OR ANY SURGERY. TAKE CARE AND THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU....NETTERS

Hi Annette: Where is Big Creek from Berea? LOL I'm geographically challenged. We actually live in Garrard County, even tho our address is Berea. We're out in the boonies. We've just lived here about 18 months. I grew up in Montgomery County...east of Lexington. Have lived all over, from Fairfield OH to Cleveland to Seattle WA. LOL Kat

teresa, there were also no deaths when dr. Bolar was at georgetown hospital. Since these are the only two bariatric surgeons that have been at georgetown, what you heard was a rumor. I saw dr. Bolar once and had checked him out beofre i went to lexington. My insurance wouldn't cover him for my surgery so I had to change. That was early last year so if anyone did die, it was after that.
