I'm here, I'm Post OP, and I need help.
Hey everybody, I just wanted to say thanks for all of the prayers and notes that I got over the last few days. I am at home. I had my surgery Friday. Got to come home Monday. I am glad to be home but I will not lie, I am ssssooooo tired it is crazy. I can not sleep enough. Which makes me not be awake enough to drink all the stuff I need. I am worried about this. I am trying to drink like crazy but have not gotten more that 32 ounces a day for last 2 days. That is half of what I need. Any suggestions will be helpful. Hope everyone is great. Thanks again.
Jessica, congratulations on your surgery and being home! I was the same way, so tired and nauseous all the time. Just do the best you can, some fluid is better than nothing, and it WILL get better. Mine lasted quite a while and I'm finally feeling better like in the last couple of weeks (surgery date was Dec. 4). Hang in there, I promise it'll get better! Laura Johns
I am preop, but I used to work in an ent surgeon's office.. A trick to try on fluids post op we used was to drink 1-2 ounces every fifteen minutes or so. That'll be about 4-8 ounces an hour. At LEAST 2 ounces an hour is GREAT..but doing it in small amounts is easier. How do you measure that small amount?? One medicine cup is equal to one ounce... one ounce is equal to 2 tablespoons. A lot of patients had an easier time with fluids when they weren't having to drink like 8 ounces at once. Best of luck to ya, and hope it works!! Email me if you need to, be glad to answer any questions..
