Customer Service - a thing of the past?

I'm terribly frustrated with my Dr.'s staff (located in Louisville). Just last week (1/15/) I telephoned to confirm whether my paperwork had been submitted to the insurance for approval and I was told that it had been faxed the previous day. I allowed one week and telephone my insurance company today to follow-up and I'm told that they have not received anything via fax, phone or mail from the doctor's office. I call my doctor's office and guess what I get again - VOICE MAIL. They will not return my calls. When I do get a story -it's just that - FABRICATION. So I tell myself, well "they" say 4 to 6 weeks. I consulted on 12/11 - its been over a month and my paperwork has not left the doctors office - added to not returning calls. I know that WLS is popular, so does that mean we are to accept what ever service - however bad they hand out? Dont want to upset the doctor or his staff because they might not support you and then you've got to go through this process all over again if you choose to go elsewhere. what is going on? By the way, I absolutely like my doctor. What say you?

i say, my doctor is just a hop and a skip up the B/g Pkwy from you. Come on up. No seriously, is there any way you can bypass the office staff and get to your doctor. or send him a personal registered letter outlining your difficulties with his staff. if he as great as you think, he will fix it for you. Good luck

Here's my take. This is a major undertaking. You want a support system from your surgeon's practice. It sounds like to me that they are either too busy or don't care. Either way, is this how you want to be dealt with after your surgery? You want a doctor and staff who take a real interest in your well being. I guess I am biased because we have the best program in the world. LOL Our doctors are ALWAYS there, our nurses and other staff members are a phone call away. There is someone on call 24/7. I have support in so many ways, and I'm incredibly grateful. So, if I were you, I would really consider if this is the way they treat you now, how will it be once you've had the surgery?
