STILLLLLLL waiting.....
to roll back the clock....i was SUPPOSED to get a call from dr allens office to get on the waiting list ..to GET ON the waiting list back in august....so i waited and called in late september...and was told about a new office (im assuming with additional doctors...but this is just an assumption)...i was told that i would get a call in november...well november has come and gone.....january is here ....still no call...
and wouldnt you know it...my insurance company has changed to cigna, which i have been told by a couple of people who are trying to get approval for the surgery , is a royal nightmare about approving the surgery..(on of these people weighs 450 lbs and is in such bad shape she cant walk the length of her driveway) ..her family doctor say she NEEDS this surgery...
on the other hand my sons mother in law (who was on disability and a medical card ...due to her weight (about 480)...practically knocked on this office's door and was led to the operating room (she would have had the surgery even sooner if she hadnt been so scared that she put it off for serveral months)
im at the point where im about ready to say to heck with the whole thing
i know its going to be a fight with the insurance ..even if i EVER get an appointment....
has anyone else ever just had enough and looked elsewhere for a different treatment or doctor...
please drop me a line at [email protected]

His staff was wonderfull did not get any runaround with them was approved and had WLS with in 1 mth .After I had done been approved by new dr. Dr Allens staff called me this was like 1 yr later and told me I was approved for the lapband I had done told I did not want that I wanted to change to bypass they told they had changed it and summited it to my INC. So thats how I know they just fat out lied to me. Dr Allen was great I liked him very much I just have no use for his staff at

Bobbie,
I am a patient of Dr. Allen's and it took me almost a year to get a consult with him. Scheduled Sept. 02 and consult was August of 03. I am now waiting on final approval from my insurance for the surgery, (which I feel I already should have had) Insurance has had paperwork since mid November and they have been jerking me around since then, probably partly Dr's office fault as well. I haven't been very patient either. Staff in office seems to be very competent and helpful, Have had a little problem with their pre-certification dept, though. I think they have a huge caseload at the office and he only sees patients on Fridays so that doesn't leave a lot of time to schedule. He Does surgerys constantly, and does a lot of teaching. His credentials are impeccable, but is difficult to get in to see. Wife had 1st visit on Nov. 5th and 2nd visit is Jan 31st I believe. So it isn't going to be the Indy 500 when you do get a consult, but you can rest assured when he is doing your surgery, that you will be getting the best care possible. Just go with your own feeling on this, because it is you that has to be pleased.
God Bless,
Paul
Bobbie, If you ask me, change Docs. I am with Dr. Neighbert and Steiner and from the time I went to my first seminar it has flown by. My first Docs appointment one week, next week shrink eval, next week medical tests, 2 weeks later got a call saying my ins had been approved and I had my surgery scheduled for 3 weeks later. I am having it the 23rd on Jan. They have been wonderful and call to check on me. Just to see if I have any questions and to make sure I got my appointment letters and such. I would give them a call if I were you. They work FOR YOU! Not themselves.
