Anyone at Georgetown Hosp?

Hi everyone, Just wanted to know if anyone has had WLS at Georgetown Hosp. I live in Cincinnati but Dr Oldham works with my sis-in-law and he is doing me there. Wanted to know how things went and how you liked it. Thanks, Lisa G

OK, I know I replied to this but it isn't there so here goes again... I can't say enough about Georgetown Hospital! The before during and after care is wonderful! The nurses in The Bariatric Center are terrific and since two have had the surgery themselves (under a different doc though) they have so much more insight than the previous program I was considering (UK, but then the docs moved). More about the surgery: When I met the Drs. Weiss and Oldham they encouraged me to ask as many questions as they did the same to make sure I knew what I was getting into. A week later I had surgery. It was not bad at all. The first night I was in ICU, a standard procedure for all RNY's. The next day I felt great. I even went shopping on the third day after surgery (to get my walking in you know). Two weeks later I ended up in the hospital again with a bowel obstruction. It was treated with medicine and I went home. During testing at that time The docs found out my gallbladder was diseased and they said if I get another obstruction that they would fix it laparascopically and take my gallbladder. Well, it happened another week or so later. This time it was outpatient surgery and was also not bad. Well, overall I would choose my docs time and again for anything. I would also choose Georgetown Hospital for anything. As soon as my 12-18 month of weight loss time are up I intend get pregnant and I want to go back there to deliver. It was personal, clean, and I felt really taken care of there. I'm sure other people will reply and tell you how great the docs are, not to mention how cute! Good luck on your surgery! Hi Lisa! I'll echo Teresa and Stephanie's comments. Georgetown hospital is wonderful and the Bluegrass Bariatrics program there with Drs. Oldham and WEiss are AWESOME. Lisa, I also had my surgery in May of 2002 at Georgetown Hospital. I can tell you that they are well equipped for people having this type of surgery. The staff and my stay there were fantastic. I wish you luck on your new journey. It will be the best thing you ever do for yourself and you will thank yourself everyday after. Sincerely, Julie J.
