Ok, as I posted yesterday, the ins. was gonna have a dr. review my case again. He said he will NOT approve for me to have the surgery. Boy, he has no idea that, yes, he will!! I've met their requirements, jumped their hoops..so bottom line is, I will get this! I am seeing a pulmonologist tomorrow to schedule a sleep study. I am also going to see another doctor after that, since my doctor won't write a letter saying it's medically nec. He's one of those who tells me "it's so easy to lose weight." Yeah, ok. That's why this is a nationwide problem!?!??!!? At the recomendation of a friend locally, I have found a doctor who does indeed support the surgery, and will help you get it. Let the fun begin!! Anyone out there reading this that went through this and got the surgery, please email me or post something here. I am so sure I will get this, but I'd love to hear from you all. Would be a great encouragment for me right now. Thanks to all!! April

I'm sorry you were denied again. I thought it was the surgeons place to reveiw all your tests that they ordered and write you a letter of medical necessity. my pcp didn't even know I had surgery until after the fact. my surgeon did it all. scheduled my tests and everything. Did they just give you a list and you had to do all that? Will Dr. Bolar's office send in a letter? Any way you are to be admired for your determination. Hang in there.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and wishes. I saw a pulmonologist today, and he feels I have sleep apnea. AHHH....more ammo for my appeal?!?!!? Is that what I SMELL???? LOL.... IT IS!! LOL They were wonderful enough to work me in Friday (just TWO days away) for a sleep study. They were booked until Jan. 20th or something like that. I told them if they had any cancellations I would come at any time...she said "if I work you in on Friday, can you come?" I wanted to jump outta the chair and kiss her feet! (well, not really!! LOL) I figure once I get more documented co-morbidities, my ground will be stronger to stand on, and the insurance will sink in the SAND!! LOL... For anyone out there reading this..do NOT get discouraged if you get denied. Keep your chin up! Fight! Well, hope all is well!!

Hi April, I really admire you and your determination, I was denied 2 weeks ago, and I know how frustrating it is... Well at first I was so hurt and disapointed, then I got angry. then I got mad. lol... So I've spent the last 2 weeks doing more research and getting more information to send in. And today I sent in the appeal letter and all the information that I have gathered, I sent it certified mail with a return receipt. So they cant say they didnt get it.. LOL " Does it sound like I dont trust em ? " LOL . So Now I'll just wait... And I've already contacted Walter Lindstrom's office, Just in case I'm denied again. I made about 5 copies of everything, just incase I need them... Keep the faith we will get this. Debbie
