It's been awhile...

..since I've posted. I read the posts almost everyday but haven't taken the time to post one myself. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. AFter the long weekend, I went back to work today - and the gym. I "weighed in". Unofficially, I've lost 102 lbs! I've gone from a snug fitting size 3x-4x or 26 to an 18-20 or L - XL depending on the make of clothes. My surgery was June 25. I'm excited, but I know it could have been more. I think what they call the "honeymoon" period is coming to an end for me. I'm starting to get a little down about not enjoying the holiday feasts and treats. Not being able to "be like everyone else". I know that sounds silly and I am thankful that I had this done. I hope this is just a phase. I found myself eating things I shouldn't, though. On Saturday, I ate 2 pieces (yes 2 whole pieces) of pizza - crust and all. I also ate a small piece of candy (caramel). It didn't make me dump - I was kind of hoping it would. I don't want to get caught up in the past again. I felt better after working out today. I need out of this mental slump. I also got the Right Weigh newletter in the mail over the holiday (for those not in Louisville, this was the bariatric program at Suburban Hospital that was great). They are no longer working out of Suburban. They will no longer have the support group meetings there the way I read it. I've only been to one, but loved it. The staff was great and very helpful and encouraging. I'm looking forward to Christmas and already to next summer to put on a bathing suit! Me and my family may go to Disney World and I'll actually be able to ride the rides with my kids this time - I'll fit! I'm hoping all these thoughts will keep me on the right path. Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laurie

It is so good to see you posting again and sounds like you are doing great. keep up the good work. Did you have your surgery in Lousiville? I went to the information meeting there for Dr. Shina. Does this mean he is not doing this surgery anymore or went somewhere on his own? he is a great surgeon. I thought all the staff was great also. i kind of missed eating "normal for Thanksgiving too but as I looked around me at how the "normal" people were eating, I was glad i couldn't. that;s what got me fat in the first place. LOL
