Counted my blessings this Thanksgiving
Hello everyone, I had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. I decided to not let this surgery change the things that I love to do and one of those is cooking a big Thanksgiving Day Dinner for my entire family. I still can't eat turkey, but I bought and cooked the biggest one I could fine. I know now that eating all that food wasn't what made me happy, but the preparing it and getting the house ready for the guest is the real joy. Once I sat down to the meal, I took a small plate added a few things and enjoyed myself. I asked my father to have the blessing and he thank God for letting me have the surgery and doing so well. This will be a Thanksgiving that I will remember forever and I know now that I have truly been blessed. -86 lbs. Teresa Gash
teresa, glad you had a nice thanksgiving. We did too. I didn't have anyone to cook for this year because the kids couldn't come so hubby and I were alone for the first time in 33 years. We got up early and went to K-mart in danville and did some Christmas shopping then out to eat at a local resturant. Golden Corral. It was pretty good and for a fleeting moment, as I watch everyone pile their plates, I missed being able to do that. But I got to eat a few bites of everything I wanted and as we sat there, my hubby commented that he thought I was the smallest woman in there. ( I am in a size 10 now) and you know he was right. The site of all those large women eating and looking like I used to brought me back to reality. I thank God every day for this surgery and the way it has changed my life.
