Hello everyone. This is my first time on a message board. I really need some help and encouragement. I had an open RNY on May 7th, 2003 and lost great at first. I have pretty much slowed to a stop with about 90 pounds still to go. I started out at 300 pounds, 5'6", 35 yrs. old. I am now 249.5 and have only lost about 10 pounds in the last 2 months. I had a follow up appt Oct. 3 with my doc and he seems to think I'm losing a little too slow also. He said to give it 45 more days and if I'm still not losing he wants to do a gastroscope to see if the stoma has opened back up. He says he does not think this is the problem, because my appetite is still very small, there are 2 foods I just can't tolerate, and I FEEL like I'm losing. My clothes are still getting bigger, and people say I look like I'm still losing. I drink lots of water, eat protein, and have started walking 2 miles per day. Has anyone been through anything like this ? What if I've done the most extreme think imaginable to lose this weight and it still won't go away ? I'm really sad right now, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jennifer

Don't stress too much over this. A lot of times when you don't lose pounds, you are losing inches. You mentioned that your clothes are getting bigger. Did you measure before surgery and every month thereafter? This is what I have always done. I know months that my loss has been slow, I have lost inches. I started out in a tight size 22 and now am in a loose 12 petite. i have only lost 90 pounds but have lost six feet worth of inches.

Jennifer, If you are still losing inches your still losing You will go thru many periods like this most likely. The weightloss doesn't always stay fast. You will lose fast , slow back and forth. I know how frustrating it is. You said your getting in all your water, protein and exercise thats great. How many times a day are you eat? what are you eating? You should be eating ATLEAST 3 times a day. I don't know of anyone who never felt that they wouldn't lose weight, we all felt that at some point and time in our journey. Just keep doing what your supposed to be. Take a close look at what your consuming, drinks and food wise. Although we started at almost the same weight you are a bit taller than me. I was 302 and 5'2, now i am at 125 lbs and 5'3 1/2 lol standing tall i guess. YOu can do it! just take an inventory. Keep up the great work hun kristi KY

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I feel like I've done the last resort and even that is failing me. But , I'll just keep plugging away. Wow, 125 pounds sounds like heaven to me. As you said, I'm a little taller than you, plus I have a large frame. When I was 18 I weighed 158 but wore a size six at the time. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with my c/d cups, but I know I'll never get to 125. I'd be happy at 165 or so. Thanks again for the pep talk !!! Jenn
