Hi annette, I am 17.5 months post op. I personally never counted carbs i just stayed away from the bad ones until goal, bad are breads, pasta's and rice. I stil don't eat rice or pasta and very very seldom bread . Like maybe 2 x a month. I watched sugar, protein, saturated fats, and always my fluid intake. It has worked for me i went from 302 to 125 now. size 32 pre op to a size 0-2 post tt. kristi-ky

Hi Annette, I'm 7 months post-op and have only lost 61lbs is now looking to keep my carbs down. I'm trying to follow the adkins diet and by keeping my carbs down to 20gms a day.

Annette, this totally depends on what your surgeon or nutritionist tell you. They are all different. Some say don't count them and some say 20g or 40g. Ask your doc. Also did tabby get ahold of Charles Ray?

I was told by my nurse coordinator and nutritionist that you do not have to count carbs. that as long as you were not getting 60 grams in a serving that I would be okay. I feel like if you eat your protein the way you should , then you well not have enough room for alot of carbs. Also the body needs some carbs to function the same way it needs some fat. So starving your body of complex carbs may not be very healthy. Some WLS programs have their patients on th Atkins diet, but I was told that it is not the healthiest for us. The best advice is to follow you program. I hope this helps. Good luck!!! 334.5/234/150
