mom of 15 month old worried about post op

Hello, I will hopefully be having my surgery (roux-en-y) in the next couple of months. My big worry is my 15 month old son. I am a stay at home mom and he depends on me for everything. He is going through a stage where he wants me to do everything for him, all the time. I am worried about how he will deal with my recovery during post-op. Are there any parents of young children who have had surgeries while your children were little????? How did you handle it when they wanted to be held or rocked or carried, etc????? Also, about how long did it take for you to be able to lift approximately 25 lbs.??????? thanks worried mom

Hello worried mom, my children are older, but I think we need to know if you are having your surgery open or lap? There is a huge difference in your recovery time. Lap. only requires about 2 weeks off work from a job that does not lift much. My surgery was Lap. and I was told not to lift anything heavier than 10 lbs the first 2 weeks. I don't know after that if there was any other weight limits. Hope this helps.....Teresa Gash
