Hi Everyone and CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss. Everyone on this site is doing so well but yet for me it's such a hard struggle. Sometimes it's as if I've never had this surgery. I feel like such a failure. I've only lost 57lbs in 5 1/2 months post-op. This is crazy. I can't even think about a revision because I no longer have the health insurance to cover this typ of surgery again. I know that I'm in a very rare situation and the number is very low that this has happened to but I'll survive this because I'm a survivor. I'm just one whom have to really work at losing each pound. I'm not going to give up. I'm still exercising 3 days a week. I'm still drinking my water. I'm still getting in my protein by chicken and fish only. I'm still striving to be a full vegetarian one day but for now I'll only eat chicken and fish. I also still take my vitamins daily. I'll only lost 2-3lbs and then I'll hit a pleatu for weeks without losing another pound. I do get depressed on many days. My depression only rises when I get on obesityhelp and look at everyone whom are doing so well. I'm truly happy for you all but I'm just disappointed with myself. My body is just not corporating. I figure that I'm about 20-40 pounds behind the average person whom have had this surgery in the same month as I have had. I also did find a really good protein drink which is the atkins chocolate delight. So now I've started drinking that but yet I can't see the results. Once again thank you all for always giving me a wonderful word of encouragement when I post. Please Keep Me In Your Prayers. I just know that the Lord has a better plan for me. I'm just trying to keep the faith that one day I will truly reach my weight loss goals because my desire is to become an healthier person and no to suffer in this obese body. Love You All & God Bless You All. Marilyn in Lexington, KY.

Marilyn, Do you drink tons of water? I saw on one of the question/answer sections here that the fatty tissue come out the bladder, so the more water we drink the more fat that comes out. I'm still trying to get in enough water a day, excluding the protein drinks I have. You are still doing so much better than without the surgery though. Just think, those 57lbs will never come back again! Plus you will continue to lose weight right on. Congratulations!

I am sorry you are having such a struggle. remember how slow i started? My loss picked up at about 5 months out and now my hubby and I are both afraid that i am going to be one of those that can't stop losing. I only want to lose 10 more pounds but the past two months, I have lost ten pounds a month. I am already looking bad in my clothes. My smallest clothes just hang on me. I bought size 12 jeans the other day and could have gotten a size 10. I guess i will feel better when i can get some new church clothes in a size ten or twelve. Then i wouldn't look so bad. God Bless.

Hi Marilyn: My heart goes out to you. I cannot imagine how frustrated and depressed you must be. Have you stopped drinking protein drinks? Try going back to the basics. Protein drinks and clear liquids. I would also contact your doctor. What have your post op classes said about this situation? My thoughts and hugs and prayers go out to you. I know you must be down over this. Try to remain positive and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Hugs, Kat

Hey Marilyn, since you've email me, I've been doing some reading in my manual. You need to be drinking water, crystal lite, sugar free koolaide, etc in the amounts of 64 ounces a day. Now your body may need more, so I would up it at least 10 ounces until you can reach between 80 and 100 ounces a day. Now you might float away, but don't worry you won't float far. Also, increasing your protein from what you are comsuming now can also restart your weight loss. Try protein bars that are low in carbs. Your goal should be 50 to 70 grams of protein per day or more and less than 100 grams of carbohydrates per day. Do not drink soda's (diet too) and do not drink from straws. Try having scheduled snacks, do not graze during the day. Take your vitamins, calcium and b-12. From what I read upping your water and protein could restart you on the downward track. Stay positive and try to go to a support group. The RN at the Georgetown Hospital told me that it told her 4 months to loose 57 lbs. So see your not that far off. The surgeon that I have just by-passes more of your small intestines, which gives us a better weight loss. Don't give up, you have been given a great gift by God and he wants you to use it to help others. You will be able to help someone else that has the same problem. Hang in there you have what it takes to accomplish your goal. Teresa Gash
