Has anyone had problems with anxiety or panic attacks before surgery? I have a lot of things to deal with before I go in and they overwhelm me sometimes. Just wondering if anyone else has done similar and how you handled it. Thanks.

Hi Debi. I sometimes still do have anxiety attacks but they are no where near to what they use to be prior to surgery. My attacks were always onset by the thought of dying and I just did not have any peace in my life.

uggggg Debi i have been going through the same thing. My coping skills are at 0 right now. Everything upsets me. I am excited about my surgery which is Tuesday Sept 2, but at the same time the thought of being put to sleep for that length of time scares me. Kinda sad and scary to think most of us have been afraid most of our lives (because of the fear of being over weight and not accepted) and then we fear the one thing that is going to help us. I will sure keep you in my prayers and i ask that you keep me you in yours. I am guessing that most people have experienced anxiety/panic right before their surgery. But we will get through it and be better for it if you would like to email me please feel free my email is [email protected] Talk to you soon. God Bless and Keep you safely Always! rhonda

Hi Debi, All too well I know how you feel. I have been dealing with panic disorder (treated) for about 2 years now. It feels as though you are the only one in the world and no one could possibly know how you feel but I have talked with many who have this and know exactly. If I were not on medicine I probably would not be having this surgery because I could not do what was necessary to qualify...ie. driving to appts. If you are overwhelmed right now--enlist some helpers. You deserve it. That was a lot of my problem. I would take on too much and no way I could handle it all. and that seems to bring it out at it's worst. If you have family members ..get them to help you do simple things that will give you some more time to the things that you have to do yourself. I will also tell you that God now brings peace to my mind that I have never felt before. If I feel that I cannot handle another thing, I find a quiet place and pray for about 15 minutes and I am a new person. If you need to talk ... [email protected] Rebecca 9\4
