My insurance claim for lab tests is still pending, but the official bill from the lab for just the blood draw was around $450.00 for a chemistry panel (14), lipid panel (cholesterol etc), thyroid panel, TSH, CBC. Some surgeons also want: Pulmonary function tests and blood gas analysis could run $250.00. Gallbladder ultrasound could run $250.00 Sleep apnea studies are also in the hundreds of dollars. You can check this website for individuals who have shared their surgery costs that were actually billed. Interesting. Have you challenged your insurance company or appealed? Can you get any of the tests to be ordered by your PCP under any of your other diagnoses?? Good luck.

My cardio-stress test was just over $2000. My out-patient scope to check my stomache was just over $3000. So far my insurance has paid very well. I agree you need to challenge your insurance. The more back-up you have that what you are doing is medically necessary the better. Good luck.
