On Wednesday I will be 4 weeks post op. I tolerated surgery well and feel I have been doing well (I've lost about 25 pounds). I have stuck with the diet restrictions pretty well, except I can't drink the protein shakes. The problem I'm having is with diarrhea and nausea in the mornings. This occurs probably 4-5 days a week. It wakes me about 4 am and lasts through about 8 or 9 am. I'm taking Pepto Bismol every morning. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this and some things that may have worked for you and how long it lasted. I tried eating something before going to bed (like an ounce of cheese) which helped, but I don't want those added calories. Someone suggested to me hot decaf coffee or tea. This worked some. Thanks for your help in advance!

I have never had diarreha but I have had the morning nausea. The hot drink in the morning before eating anything has stopped that. Also you might be compounding the problem by drinking pept-bismol. Look on the label. It is VERY high in sugars. Loose the pepto and if you have to get you some immoduim.
