John, I'm 55 and had the open RNY in May 2002 at the age of 54 with Dr. Goldman at Cabell Huntington, but he is leaving and Dr. Denning will be doin most of the bariatric surgeries. I was told that 60 is the cut off age limit with their office. Call them at 304-526-6097 and they can tell you more. I was als suffering with arthritis, had right knee replaced and was in a wheelchair, on oxygen and c-pap machine but no longer. I've lost around 200 lbs and doing great. I hope this helps you. Take care. Susy
I was almost 51 when I had the surgery. I think you are way under any age limits. Have seen some age limits, but they have all been past 60. I had arthritis in my back and both knees. Went to an orthopedic the month before my surgery, where we talked about replacing my knees, and doing it soon. Today my knees don't hurt, back very seldom. Could barely walk from my job to my car. Today I can walk, even climb a flight of stairs each day. Go for it, you will be glad that you did. Judy RNY 10/17/02 lost 116 lbs
