So I am enrolled in the Fresh Start program at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  I just (Tuesday) completed my 6 months of dietitian appointments and was told that my surgeon, Dr. Steve Myers is no longer with the program and that Dr. Thomas Sonnanstine is replacing him.   I have read most of his reviews and what I am looking for are "the facts".  I want your honest exeriences with this doctor.  I am positive he will be my surgeon and want to know more about him.  Please tell me anything and everything that you can.

Thanks for your time and thoughts.

Dr. Tom is the best doctor I have ever been to.  He really cares about his patients and is good to them although he will fuss if he thinks you are not following the rules.  He will also fuss if you do not have water with you to drink while waiting.  I have to say I rarely ever had to wait more than 15 minutes unless he had an emergency surgery.  I drove 4 hours to see him when he was at Georgetown and I am following him to Columbus and that will be about a 6 hour drive for me but as far as I am concerned he is the best.  He did my RNY in Jan. of this year and I switched to him prior to that because I had a bad experience with the doctor that placed my lapband.  Long story so won't go into it, but I followed all the rules and could never lose but about 30 lbs with it and gained most of them back prior to my revision.

Sad thing for Dr. Sonnanstine's patients.  He never stays in one place for long, something you may want to consider.  As a Bariatric specialist that proclaims his dedication to program and care for a "life time" you have no idea when he will leave or where he will turn up next.  I do know he had a few complications in the beginning here in Georgetown..You may want to look back at old post here on the boards.
Hopefully he will do much better while in Columbus..

I think that would be a huge red flag for anyone. What's the deal with moving all over the place?

He has not moved all over the place, he is in his dream job now and I expect he will be staying there for a long while.

There is a doctor's office in Lexington that loves to slander his name and these posts were more than likely started by them, they have been known to do that and caught. One of Dr. Sonnanstine's patients that got angry because he left Georgetown or even a patients family member.

People need to get a life and quit trying to destroy everyone else's.  As for me I will follow Dr. S to the ends of the earth if needed because he is that good.

I do believe that Dr. Tom will be there for a long time.  Also, if you notice the person that posted that is from Dr. Weiss' office and just signed up today to make that post.  I guess they had to use a new name, they must not be able to remember their password, because they did the same thing a few months ago when he announced he was leaving.  Dr. Weiss' office staff or he, himself, are excellent at bashing Dr. Tom as I can be excellent, with cause to blash Dr. Weiss and his staff, but I have been trying not to.  Funny thing is with this post it was plain stupid to post because I doubt that you are going to come from Columbus to KY to have your surgery.

6 years ago today Dr Tom did my surgery.  He changed my life.  I originally lost 160 lbs.  I have maintained a 130 lb weight loss.  I am so grateful and so blessed.  Today is a wonderful day.
