Finally got a date! What did you eat and like the first stage of post op?
Hello Everyone! First and foremost, Happy Holidays!!!!! I have been trying to have Gastric Bypass since 2006 and i finally got a date! December 22nd YAY! At one point I was going to Dr. Tom Sonnanstine, then he left St. Luke. They did a class where you could test out protein suppliments. I really liked a lot of those, but I don't remember the names. I was just wondering what were things that you guys favored as soon as you came out of surgery. From the liquid diet to the puree to the solids. I would really appreciate the input.

Hey. I just did a clinical appt. in Georgeteown, which is where Dr. Sonnanstine is now, I know that they prefer unjury and had us sample a few of those. IDK if it was the same u tested at St. Luke. Did you like Dr. Sonnanstine? I am waiting on my pre-op visit with him. But I have everything else done. Good luck to you!
I LOVED DR. TOM! He really makes you feel like an individual and not like a number that he's passing through... He is really personable and not bad to look at if i might add haha.. It was a shame that he was so far away from me (I was in Ashland Ky) but yeah I would reccomend him to anyone! but my hubby works 60 hours a week and i couldn't drive almost 3 hours away and him make the trp everyday i was in the hospital...i remembered one was carnation instant breakfast the strawberry i liked... i dont remember the rest of them.. I've heard a lot of good things about unjury..im gonna try to find some sample packs online!
Congrats and good luck to you!
I had my RNY in 2008 at KDMC.
I never liked protein shakes but I did well with broth, tofu, refried beans, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, yogurt, ....and when I neede more "flavor".....i sipped pickle juice for a different taste....lol......of course sf popsicles, sf jello / puddings, and fudgsicles were good dessert options. I also ate a little pasta or marinara sauce with grated cheese for a soft italian meal :)
I used to keep a daily journal on my profile if you want to check it out.

Kimmie, I drive 4 hours to see Dr. Tom and I love him. He did not do my lapband surgery but after the ones that did do it screwed me over I changed and started going to Dr. Tom.. I am not a band success story and I feel like it is mainly because of the start I got with another group.
I am revising to RNY and Dr. Tom is going to do it. I can't wait and I have all the faith in the world in him.
