I live in the San Francisco area and recently visited Bowling Green, KY.  I liked the small town atmosphere and the prices of houses (WOW).  Any way the day I left to get my flight in Nashville, TN to fly back to Calif., was the day all the flooding started and I was delayed at the airport for 5 or so hours.  Because of that storm, I am reconsidering the move.  On the way to the airport on Hwy. 65 there was a family caught in a flash flood off the side of the freeway.  I don't know what happened to these people and it has bothered me ever since.  Anyway would love some of your input, especially those of you in Bowling Green.  What about band doctors, support groups, etc.?  Thanks.

Hi,
I'm actually from the other end of the state, but now live in Central KY.  The storms you encountered were pretty much a freak situation.  Some areas might be more prone to flooding, but by and large that thing was WAY out of the norm.  Here we got something like 7in of rain and it was a mess.
I can't tell you much about the doctors in that area, but if you were to move closer to either Louisville or Lexington you would have plenty of choices.  Totally a guess, but I think being so close to Nashville, Vanderbilt and other hospitals in TN would be an option from B.G.  I think Jean M. on the LapBand board sees a doctor there, so you might PM her.
Good luck if you decide to move here.  My husband was stationed all over the place and when he got out of the military we came back here for the same reasons you are thinking of moving.  Good luck!

I live in Glasgow which is around 30 miles from Bowling Green.  The storm that we had a few weeks ago is the most rain at one time we've had for 30 years.  It was bad as I had about 2 ft of water in my basement.  It's a very rare occurance but it does happen.

As for weight loss surgeons, my surgeon is in Louisville.  The closest ones are Louisville and Nashville.  Bowling Green had a surgeon years ago but not anymore.  Also, Elizabethtown used to have one but I don't think they do now either.

There is a support group in Bowling Green but I've never been.  I prefer to go to Louisville where my doctor and friends are.

If you have any more questions, feel free to let me know.
