Congratulations, Toni.  I know how you feel.  I am scheduled for Mar. 18 at St. Joe's E. in Lexington.  I am so excited and beginning to get nervous, too.  I, too, am so thankful to God for giving me a chance like this.  It is by His grace and love that this is happening for us.  Praise His holy, blessed name.  He has truly blessed us.

Juanita, I am one week post-op from having surgery at St. Joe East with Newton and Steiner. Prayer is a powerful thing to take into surgery with you. I was up walking around the same day of surgery and was walking laps by the next day and completely off everything (IV, pulse-ox, cathether). I was able to walk 5 laps around the hospital floor the day after surgery. I attribute it all to being covered in prayer for strength and healing. When the Lord is with you, who can be against you?

Blessings,
Amanda

Ladies -

You are almost exactly one year behind me. I just want to wish you the very best. I am simply amazed at how different my life is now. I am 135 pounds lighter than I was a year ago. I have gone from a 3x shirt, and very tight 26 (*should've been a 28, but did  not want to buy new since I was having surgery) and I am now in a 10 with a medium shirt.  But more than sizes I have soooo much more energy and am living my life more than before. Here is a funny to put it all into persepetive: My hubby told my father he didn't need to trade me in for a younger model as he already had a trophy wife! I would NEVER imagined being called that or being told not to loose anymore weight I was getting too thin (I am not,as I am just above the normal range in bmi) or any of the other compliments I am being given.
It has been an amazing journey...work your new tools...and do your best. The beginning IS the easiest...work hard then and you will truely be the most sucessful.

I wish you the very best in your journey!

Hey Toni,

Congrats on getting your surgery all scheduled.  I, too, am VSG pre-op -- or at least I think I am.  I've done the preliminary consult and leg work with having surgery in Somerset, Kentucky, but learned just today that perhaps they are no longer doing this procedure at that hospital.  Now I'm totally bummed, just waiting a telephone call for clarity on what the heck is going on.

Can you tell me more about your surgeon and the hospital where you're planning to have your surgery?

From reading your post, I certainly feel we share the same values and hope we can share the journey ahead.
