i am a little over 3 years out after having RNY surgery and lost over 120 pounds.  well, i recently gave birth to my first child and i really need to lose the extra weight!  does anyone know what the calorie limit should be for me daily since it's been over 3 years since surgery?  i remember having 800 calories a day or so, but not sure what it should be now, or if it should be the same amount?  thanks for the help, i really need it!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on having your first child!  Welcome to the wonderful world of motherhood.  My oldest just got her driver's license today.  You won't believe how quickly the time will go by.

I don't know the answer to your question.  If I were in your situation, I would call my doctor's office or nutritionist and ask for guidance.  If you are breastfeeding, your caloric intake will need to be higher than someone who is not nursing.

800 calories is really low.  Also, you probably will want to wait at least six weeks before you start "dieting" becaue your body needs time to heal from giving birth.  Again, it's probably best to ask your doctor and/or nutritionist since they are the experts!

Good luck to you.

Dr. Sonnanstine did my surgery when he was in Northern Kentucky but has since went to Georgetown.  I'm not sure how that will work for me since I haven't seen him since he was up this way.  But I will check it out and see.

Thanks very much!

I would absolutely contact Dr. Sonnanstine at his new office.
It is a little bit of a drive but I assure you that you won't regret it. We live in NKY and it takes us about an hour to get there.

The new office number is 502-867-3303

The new address is:
1138 Lexintong Road
Suite 230

I agree you will not regret seeing Dr. Sonnanstine.  I switched doctors to him and I drive right at 4 hours once a month to see him.

Congratulations.
I will be 2 years out in Feb. and I get about 1100-1200 cal a day.
I'd check with the nutritionist to see what they recommend for you.
If you are breastfeeding, you may need more.  If that is the case, then I'd focus on increasing exercise time.
Good luck.

I have to copy and paste your posts into another program so I can read them because the font is too small, so I missed the entire topic when I posted before.  I thought you were not wanting to drive to see Dr. Sonnanstine, but if I were you I would make an appointment with his dietician and let her help you with this, she would know what would be best for you, I would think.

How did you know you had a leak?

I knew from the day it happened that there was something wrong.  I had a little restriction when I went in for the fill and when I was driving back home I could have eaten a horse I got so hungry.  Never had done that before, the hunger would not go away and I finally called the office and asked her if she could have just injected the saline under the skin and missed the port, she had a very hard time hitting it that day, and every day to be honest.  It took me 7 months to convince them something was wrong and they would do nothing until I said well I am going to another doctor and boy they got on the ball.  But the doctor was so rude to me prior to surgery that I made up my mind his office would never touch me again and they didn't.  I did go tell them why I was leaving and the doctor begged me to stay and even said he would see me himself, who would want a doctor doing your fills when they don't even do them.  I am very happy with my new doctor and is get really motivate you, too.
