have you eaten ANY carbs or sugars before being tired? instead of dumping I believe I get really sleepy. That may be something for you to think about.
take care

I have noticed that if I don't eat enough protein I feel that way.
Hope you feel better soon

Which iron level is 13? If it's your ferritin number, you probably need to go ahead and see a hematologist. You might need an infusion. A number that low is hard to raise with supplements, and the ones all the docs are going to recommend and prescribe to you are probably not going to help. Most recommend ferrous sulfate and it does very little for us, with the malabsorption we have. Plus it can wreak some major havoc on your stomach and bowels.

Get copies of your labs and post them here, or on the RNY board. There is LOTS of vite experience around to help you.

If your iron is low you might check into ferrous gluconate. It was suggested to me by a pharmacist. I was told it is absorbed farther down the intestinal track. I buy it a Walgreen's.

13 is pretty low Sandy,  I am also tired all the time but I am taking care of my mother who is very ill.  I thought I was just worn out.  I ask Dr. Sonnanstine to send me up an order to give my PCP so he could check my blood last week .my iron was 11.  Dr. Sonnanstine had Steve (his nurse) set  me up for an iron infusion this Wed..I would definitely speak to someone in your surgeons office about your levels.
I also receive B-12 injections..that's a must for me.
