hypoglycemia worries me

after having looked at the post procedure diet, i'm really concerned...  this has been a MAJOR problem with my weight loss, and it appears to be escalating recently... i don't know if i'm moving nearer to diabetes or not...  haven't been to a dr. to discuss that...

seems i'm cursed if i don't eat, and have the episodes, and cursed if i do, i still have the spikes...  it used to be that it was when i ate too many carbs, but now it just seems anything causes it...

and while i'm not afraid of the diet... this has me worried, big time...  those sugar blues really get me down... i see double, its like i'm a drunk... i've passed out...

have any of you dealt with this monster after the procedure?

Hypoglycemia is a b*tch. Yes, I dealt with it. I'm not sure that it's related to diabetes, but it is directly related to your diet. If you eat carb heavy, most likely you will be dealing with the drop later. My doc told me that I needed to eat a more protein forward, less carby diet to control it. I have to say, when I followed that, my problems went away. When I didn't listen, I dealt with the consequences. Unfortunately, when your sugar drops, you need to eat something to get it back up. This can lead to a slippery slope of weight gain.

You need to journal everything you put in your mouth, and also when an episode hits. See if you see any trends. I'd almost guarantee they are carb related. Take that journal to your doc and see what they have to say.

Hope this helps.

I've always been told that it's because you no longer have a functioning pyloric valve to control how often food is deposited into your intestines from your stomach. It's likely that it's moving through your stoma too fast, which causes the hyploglycemic reactions. Some call it late stage dumping, or something like that.
