Maybe you should change the spectrum from 0-3 years out to 3-6 years out. That will give you a better understanding of quality of life after surgery. It will also give you a more realistic idea of what you yourself can expect, and things to watch for.

that is an excellent point. I will speak with my teacher about that. I have already began the research and lit reviews for the first idea, so she may tell me it's too, late to change it considering I am half way through the semester. But that is a very valid point! Thanks for the suggestion!

If your teacher lets you change it, I'm sure myself & Beans can provide enough information for you to write a whole novel. Of course, it's probably not too common that surgeons mess up (i'll use nice words lol) lots of patients and then "skip off to a different state"...  LoL, I alone could provide enough for a Lifetime special -- complete w/ tears, sad faces, and the oh-so-sad music in the background.

Oh well, hopefully you'll find some people who had better luck!  lol.. there's got to be a few good stories..lol.

Tiffany,

I would be very interested in participating in your study. I too had my surgery in December of 2008. I am also a Social Work student although I am still at the bachelors level. I think this is a great project! I will email you my contact information!
