Its Chunky Dunk again lol
I'm pretty sure by now you all are tired of me...but hey I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the surgery lol. Alrighty..now ...what some stuff that I def need to go out and buy. I know one thing that someone told me to make sure I got a good Blender. Whats some other things I need to go ahead and buy so I don't forget in the future to get it. When do I need to wait to start taking the vitamins before the surgery. I went to a group session and they say to go ahead and be taking some so I can be getting use to taking them everyday. Is it okay to go ahead right now Or should I wait? Also wondering is Prenatel a good vitamin and how would you go about taking them for RNY everyday? Here's the big question...Has anyone had the Vena Filter thingy? If so can you please describe how that was? Because thats the one thing thats really making me jittery about the whole surgery lol. I had to have a heart cath done about a year ago and swore they would never do me that way again. Is it basically the same thing? I surely hope not. Well I guess I've took up enough of the boards space lol..Wish everyone Luck before and during their journey and Hope all is well!

i had the vena cava filter put in 3 days prior to surgery..they go in thru your groin area and they give you general anthesia... i was awake during the whole thing. it did not hurt but a couple of times it was unpleasant. i go back in a week to have it taken out. i am very happy i got it..i have heard of so many people dying from blood clots when this simple procedure can prevent it. it is definitely worth it...and you may even sleep through it. you do have to lay still for about 2 hours after but not flat on your back they can tilt up your head. you will be fine
I know I had a heart Cath done and I swore I would never have it done again. Just a little worry is all...but hey that makes alot of sense...so many people do die having blood clots. I always just thought you couldn't get clots as long as you moved around. But I'll def talk to them about it. Scary though lol. Beautiful baby by the way!
thanks he is my nephew. i have two daughters 16-17 and a neice 17 who lives with me...they are my everything. even if you move around or not you can get a clot.the vena cava really is not painful and it is nothing like a heart cath i promise..i would not of had the surgery if i could not of gotten one. a guy who works with my sister his sister had surgery and the next day died of blood clot...i would def say worth it.. i'm sure you will be fine whatever decision you make and i will keep you in my prayers...that is definitely the thing that got me through my surgery
Hi as fas as vitamins go I just took a one a day vitamin until close to time for surgery. Then when I got home from the hospital started taking the Optisource Vitamins.
Stock up on water, sf drink mixes, sf pudding, sf jello, broth, i'd get protein samples instead of buying up a bunch of different ones cause your tastes do change after surgery. I got a magic bullet blender before surgery and it was a life saver ! Get chap stick to take to the hospital with ya. Your mouth will be really really dry after surgery. Thats all I can think of right now. Oh get some bandages and surgical tape for your surgery sites.
Hope this helps some.

For the hospital:
slippers
robe if you want
loooooose fitting clothes
socks
maxi pads- you may have just had a menstural cycle, but surgery can jump start it and it did for me. Even if you use tampons regularly you will be sore and moving is awkward and pads are easier.
chapstick or equivilant
a complete list typed or written out of phone numbers of important people for your special person to call after surgery.
that is my 2 cents for what it is worth.
good luck
