can someone give me their opinion.....

im 25 years old and 245 pounds  my doctor is havin some test done on my heart and im gonna have a test for sleep apnea done in about two weeks.....im interested in the lap band but im not sure if i would qualify because of my medicaid.......what should i do?

At the top of the KY forum, which we are in there are links to doctors that accept Medicaid.  I do not know what they require your BMI to be or what problems you must have in order to qualify but I think the best thing would be to start by finding a doctor then going to one of his seminars and seeing what they have to say.   Someone at the seminar would probably know what is required of those with Medicaid.

Before you settle on anything post tons of questions. the people on here are extremely helpful and everyone has had just about every procedure available so they can give you lots of pros and cons of each.
A lady who goes by the screen name chunky dunk really researched the heck out of every nook and cranny of each surgery and has now narrowed it down to  one she might be a good person to hook up with since you are both starting the journey at the smae time.

Hey there...its Chunky Dunk ....lol Thanks Wendy...I'm glad someone knows how hard I've been searching. Maybe I can help ya out...or better yet help each other out. I know the doctor that I'm going to does Lap band on Medicaide. Thomas Sonnanstine...look him up ...he may be the one that you want to do your surgery. I would tell you some more, but he's the one I've been seeing and I love him to death. You wouldn't believe how many late nights I've set up searching the pros and cons and geeeez the questions I've asked on this board lol. When you get a chance if you like add me and we will get this ball on a roll.

Maybe call the insurance company and ask????
Also after you find the surgeon you plan on using, ask to speak with their insurance filer.
